Blue Giant

Shinichi Ishizuka’s Blue Giant manga just finished its tour of America and for its next stop, the jazz series is headed to New York. The next part of the series, which will take on the Big Apple, was confirmed through this week’s issue of Big Comic and is scheduled to begin on July 25 in the same magazine.

A commemorative illustration was released for the announcement:

This will be the fourth part of Blue Giant, with the first part being launched in Big Comic on May 10, 2013, and running until August 25, 2016. The second part, Blue Giant Supreme, ran from September 10, 2016, to April 25, 2020, with the third part, Blue Giant Explorer, ran from May 25, 2020, to May 10, 2023. All three parts together have cumulatively printed (physically) and sold (digitally) over 11 million copies.

Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing Blue Giant in English, describing the series as such:

Dai lived a normal high school life in Sendai: a city of hot summer days and rainy nights. Between basketball, part time jobs, and an uncertain future, something was missing. And that thing was music. With his days in senior year running out, Dai swears a heartfelt vow: “I’m gonna be the best jazz player in the world.”

But what do you need to be the best? Talent? Effort? A lucky break? Or maybe just a deep, pure love for music, and too much stubbornness to know when to quit.
