Akiba Maid War Serves Up Stage Play Adaptation for September 2023
Even in the formidable pantheon of their original anime series, studio P.A. Works rocked the Fall 2022 anime season with Akiba Maid War, an unflinching bloodbath of silliness and bodily harm that both challenged and elevated the crime drama/action genre.
Now, the maids of the Oinky Doink Café and their adversaries will be closer to their true selves as they step onto the stage for an official play adaptation. Details are light for now, but the show is currently scheduled to commence in September 2023 in Tokyo.

An original project produced at studio P.A. Works (Ya Boy Kongming!), the Akiba Maid War anime was directed by Soichi Masui (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai), with series composition by Yoshihiro Hiki and character designs by Manabu Nii (The Day I Became a God), who also served as chief animation director.
Sentai Filmworks, who simulcast the anime on HIDIVE as it aired from October 7 to December 23, describes the series as such:
In the spring of 1999, bright-eyed Nagomi Wahira moves to Akihabara with dreams of joining a maid café. She quickly dons an apron at café Ton Tokoton, AKA the Oinky Doink Café, but adjusting to life in the big city isn’t easy. Paired with the dour Ranko who never smiles, Nagomi must do her best to elevate the Oinky Doink Café over all other maid cafés vying for top ranking, but she soon discovers not everything is as it seems amid the frills and thrills of the maid cafés of Akihabara…
