YOASOBI’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Opening Theme Reaches 100 Million Streams

 

 

Billboard Japan announced on February 1 that Japanese music duo YOASOBI’s second CD single song “Shukufuku” (The Blessing) had surpassed 100 million streams in three months since its release, becoming their 13th song that has reached the milestone.

The song was digitally released first on October 1 and was featured as the opening theme for the first season of the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The song debuted at #6 on the streaming songs chart reported on October 12, 2022, then has remained in the top 10 for 11 consecutive weeks. It surpassed the 100 million streams in its 17th week on the chart, making it the second-fastest song to reach the 100 million mark following “Kaibutsu” (BEASTARS 2nd season opening theme), which surpassed the mark in its 14th week.

 

The song’s music video, which was posted on October 2, has also already been viewed over 30 million times on YouTube.

The first season of the latest Gundam TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, was aired for 12 episodes in Japan from October 2, 2022, to January 8, 2023. All episodes, including the episode 0 “PROLOGUE,” are available on Crunchyroll for its members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS.
