Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s Sci-fi Anime Time of Eve Gets Stage Play Adaptation

It is confirmed today that a stage play adaptation of Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s sci-fi anime series Time of Eve is scheduled to be performed at Hakuhinkan Theater in Tokyo from December 23, 29, 2022.

The anime, written/directed by Yoshiura based on his own story, was originally produced as a six-episode web animation from 2008 to 2009, then its re-edited theatrical film edition Time of Eve: The Movie was released in 2010. Both versions are available on Crunchyroll, which describes its synopsis as below:

Two high schoolers grapple with their humanity in a world where people are served by androids. Public morals, enforced by the Robot Ethics Committee, dictate that androids be treated as appliances. Those who empathize with robots are branded as “android-holics.” Rikuo (Jun FUKUYAMA) and his friend Masaki (Kenji NOJIMA) find their beliefs about androids challenged when they discover Time of EVE, a cafe where androids and people are treated as equals. Liberated from the ideas of the Ethics Committee, the two must confront a past of betrayal and grief, at the peril of their friends and family.

Koichi Ogita, best known as his works for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion stage play and musical, is attached to direct on a script by Hiroshi Hosokawa. Toshiki Seto (Hiiro Kagami/Kamen Rider Brave in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) is cast as the male protagonist, while ex-Takarazuka musume-yaku actress Maria Kano plays the female protagonist.

Cast: Toshiki Seto, Maria Kano, Tomoru Akazawa, Mirei Shiroi, Yui Ito, Yusuke Seto, Takeru Naya, Ryunosuke Kawai, Hiro Yumi, Daisuke Yanase.
