Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! Season 2 OP Song Sales Halted After Composer’s Arrest

Last month we reported on the arrest of Hidekazu Tanaka, the composer known for shows like Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! and more, who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a teenage girl. While it’s not cited as such, in further fallout from the incident, sales of the opening theme song for Uzaki-chan‘s second season has been canceled.

The theme song in question is “Ichigo Ichie Celebration” (“Once-in-a-Lifetime Celebration”). It features Virtual YouTuber Kano and Uzaki-chan (voiced by Naomi Ozora) and was composed and arranged by Tanaka. The official website for Kano announced the halting of sales and simply cited “various reasons” as the cause.

Tanaka’s credit has also been removed from Pokémon Journeys: The Series, and voice actor/performer Momo Asakura removed the song “Day and night dream,” which Tanaka composed, from setlists for upcoming concert performances.
