Urusei Yatsura Lum VA Sumire Uesaka Cosplays for Weekly Shonen Sunday

A promotional photo of voice actor Sumire Uesaka dressed in cosplay as her character, Lum, from the upcoming Urusei Yatsura TV anime. The photo is from a photo shoot for Issue 45 of the 2022 volume of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, published in Japan by Shogakukan.

 

Voice actor Sumire Uesaka (pictured above) is not only playing the role of Lum, an alien invader and the lead love interest in the upcoming Urusei Yatsura TV anime, but she’s also assuming the role through cosplay in a photoshoot published in the most recent issue of Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine.

 

The photos appear in Issue 45 of the 2022 volume of Weekly Shōnen Sunday, which is published in Japan by Shogakukan. The cover of the magazine (pictured below) also features cross-over artwork for Urusei Yatsura and MAO, both of which are written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi.

Based on the original manga by Rumiko Takahashi, the Urusei Yatsura TV anime is directed by Hideya Takahashi, Yasuhiro Kimuro, and Takahiro Kamei and features animation production by david production. The series will broadcast in Japan on the Fuji TV network beginning on October 13, 2022, and it will also stream in the United States via HIDIVE, who describe the story of the series as follows:

 

When an alien race known as the Oni invade Earth, the chronically unlucky and unapologetically lecherous Ataru Moroboshi is selected as humanity’s representative in a duel for the fate of the planet! His opponent is Lum, the Oni’s very pretty princess, and it’s only thanks to Ataru’s unscrupulous behavior that he’s able to scrape out a win in a treacherous game of tag against her. Ataru thinks he’s had his lucky break at last, but when Lum takes a shine to him off the battlefield, the conflict follows him home as Lum invades not only planet Earth, but also the womanizing Ataru’s love life!
