Umamusume: Pretty Derby Game Theme Song Reaches 50 Million Streams, Certified Gold

Japanese video game development studio Cygames announced today that “Umapyoi Densetsu,” the theme song for its mobile game Uma Musume Pretty Derby, has been streamed 50 million times in total so far, and was certified “gold” by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). The “gold” certification by RIAJ is awarded to songs that have been played more than 50 million times on the music streaming services where the association aggregates data.

The song was revealed in the game’s first PV released in March 2016, and included in the franchise’s first character song CD album “STARTING GATE 01” released on November 30 of the same year. In addition to the game, the song was used as the ending theme for the final episodes of the TV anime’s first and second season in 2018 and 2021.

Cygames writes in the press release, “Since its mixed-media project was announced, ‘Umapyoi Densetsu’ has been loved by many trainers (fans) and has been performed at various TV programs and live events, including the official numbering events. ‘Uma Musume’ will continue to develop its CD series and its latest numbered event, the 5th EVENT has been decided to be held. We hope that you will pay attention to the music release of ‘Uma Musume’ as well as the mixed-media development such as games, anime, and manga.”
