Tomo-chan Is a Girl! Reveals New Character Trailer, Additional Cast at Aniplex Online Fest
Tomo-chan Is a Girl! is prepping for its January 2023 debut, which means the anticipated rom-com had some updates to share at this weekend’s Aniplex Online Fest, including the introduction of a pair of characters from the series!
Aniplex showed off a new character trailer, giving us another glimpse of what to expect when the series arrives early next year on Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan. We also got confirmation of two new additions to the voice cast!
Kouhei Amasaki (Neito Monoma, Shihai Kuroiro in My Hero Academia) will take on the role of Kousuke Misaki, while Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Vash the Stampede in TRIGUN STAMPEDE) will voice Tatsumi Tanabe.
They’ll join previously announced cast members including:
- Rie Takahashi as Tomo Aizawa
- Kaito Ishikawa as Junichiro Kubota
- Rina Hidaka as Misuzu Gundo
- Sally Amaki as Carol Olston (who will be voicing the same character in the English dub version!)
The original Tomo-chan Is a Girl! four-panel manga series was serialized on the Twitter account and the san-zen-sen website in April 2015. The manga has eight collected volumes in Japan released by Kodansha. Seven Seas Entertainment released the English-language version of the manga.
Tomo-chan Is a Girl! will stream on Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan. The series is described as such:
A youthful romantic comedy between a boyish girl and her dense childhood friend. Loved by fans all over the world, this series is now being made into an anime! Ever since the manga for “Tomo-chan Is A Girl!” started on Twitter in 2015, this awkward yet straightforward romance between the boyish protagonist and her childhood friend became loved by readers.
