Tokyo Film Festival to Screen New, Classic Anime FilmsThe full lineup for this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival has been revealed, and it includes a bundle of anime films old and new.

As for the new, the festival will screen three recent anime films under the theme “Creating Worlds with Animation.” The films are:

Drifting Home (dir. Hiroyasu Ishida)
The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes (dir. Tomohisa Taguchi)
Break of Dawn (dir. Tomoyuki Kurokawa)

The former two films have already been released in Japan, with the latter coming out in October.

The festival will also screen some retro films with the theme “Animation and Tokyo.” The films are:

Harmagedon (dir. Rintaro)
Megazone 23 Part 1 (dir. Noboru Ishiguro)
Patlabor 2 the Movie (dir. Mamoru Oshii)
Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale- (dir. Tomohiko Ito)

The festival will also feature screenings of the anime-adjacent ULTRASEVEN tokusatsu series, plus talk events, symposiums and more.
