The Super Mario Bros. Movie to Release Two Days Early in U.S. and Other Regions

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was previously announced for an April 7 premiere, but select regions are going to get to see it a bit sooner. The official accounts revealed that the film’s debut has been moved from April 7 to April 5, landing it on screens two days earlier in the United States and over 60 markets around the world.

The Japanese opening is scheduled for April 28, with other regions to follow throughout April and May.

 

 

The Lego Movie 2 scribe Matthew Fogel is writing, with Teen Titan’s Go! To the Movies‘ Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic co-directing the animated movie and Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri at Illumination producing for a Universal Pictures distribution.

 

The film’s cast list includes Chris Pratt as the titular plumber and one-half of the Mario Bros. with Jack Black as Bowser and Charlie Day as Luigi. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
