The Super Mario Bros. Movie Releases Final Trailer


Nintendo and Illumination released the final The Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer today, following a specialized Nintendo Direct for the film. The film is now scheduled to release on April 5 in theaters.


The Nintendo Direct stream also featured comments from the cast, crew insights on the film’s depiction of Rainbow Road, as well as Shigeru Miyamoto’s announcement that a recreation of Mario’s boots featured in the film will be displayed at Nintendo’s flagship store in New York starting March 10. The Lego Movie 2 story writer Matthew Fogel is handling the screenplay, with Teen Titan’s Go! To the Movies‘ Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic co-directing the animated movie. Shigeru Miyamoto as well as Chris Meledandri at Illumination are producing for Universal Pictures distribution.


The film’s cast list includes Chris Pratt as the titular plumber Mario, with Jack Black as Bowser and Charlie Day as Luigi. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
