THE FIRST SLAM DUNK Anime Film Passes 10 Billion Yen, 2nd Toei Movie to Do So Ever
After months of speculation following the amazing first weekend and subsequent continuous number one spot on the weekend charts, Toei Company announced today that THE FIRST SLAM DUNK anime film has finally passed 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office, marking only the second Toei-produced and distributed film to reach this milestone after One Piece Film Red did so last year.
THE FIRST SLAM DUNK reached this milestone on its 67th day in theaters today, making in total 10.02 billion yen (US$75.19 million) on the back of 6,873,844 tickets sold. This has also put the film on par with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’s 10.02 billion yen box office takings, putting them both equal 42nd place on the Japanese all-time charts.
