THE FIRST SLAM DUNK Anime Film Brings More Than 5 Billion Yen to the Court

Slam dunk continues to pass more milestones as it runs through the Japanese box office with THE FIRST SLAM DUNK anime film, passing 5 billion yen this weekend, marking yet another box office smash for Toei Animation in 2022 and the first big blockbuster of the new Japanese box office year, which runs from December 2022 to November 2023.

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, as of December 25, the film’s 23rd day in theaters, has made a total of 5.06 billion yen (US$37.28 million) on the back of 3,407,275 tickets sold to spectators. The film has been at the top of the weekend box office for spectators over the last four weekends, starving off Avatar: The Way of Water from the top spot – one of the only places in the world to do so.
