Sword Art Online: Last Recollection Game Revealed for Consoles and PC

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection

November 6, 2022 marked the in-universe date that the Sword Art Online game first went online, eventually trapping 10,000 players within its servers for the ultimate survive or die scenario. Naturally, that served up the perfect opportunity for announcements, including a new original film and another action-RPG take on the series.

The latest game to be revealed is Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, a single and online co-op entry that’s currently in the works for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC for a 2023 launch.

Crunchyroll currently streams the full Sword Art Online TV anime adaptation and describes it like so:

In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called: Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game’s tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now…
