Super Mario Bros. Gets G-Shock Tribute Watch for Ultimate Nostalgia

 

For those of a certain age, Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System was a formative experience. It was the first video game for a generation and the experience left an indelible mark, not just on those who played and managed to finish the game, but also on the then-young video game industry that still continues to be felt to this day.

To celebrate, Casio’s G-Shock brand has tied up with Nintendo to release a tribute watch that calls back to the game in obvious and subtle ways, using an updated version of the equally legendary DW-5600 G-Shock watch that so many children and teenagers of the 1980s pined after, alongside the NES and the original Super Mario Bros. game.

The watch boasts the standard G-Shock feature set, including shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, an EL backlight with additional Flash Alert, multi-function Alarm, stopwatch with 24 hour functionality, 60-minute countdown timer and 12/24-Hour time display. The item is available for pre-order now directly from the G-Shock shop and will be available through select online dealers for $150.
