STUDIO4ºC Tackles Climate Change in Future Kid Takara Anime Film
Climate change is on the minds of the folks at STUDIO4ºC (Tekkonkinkreet, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition), which just announced a new original anime film tentatively titled Future Kid Takara. The sci-fi adventure follows a young girl named Sara, who travels to the year 2100 to find the world ravaged by the effects of global warming. Together she must team up with a boy named Takara to navigate this bleak dystopian landscape.
Directed by Yuta Sano (Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition) and featuring a world and original character designs by Shinji Kimura (art director on the Blue Exorcist and Steamboy anime films), Future Kid Takara is currently penciled in for a 2025 release, the timing of which represents the point of no return in helping to reduce emissions and keep the global temperature at a sustainable level. Sticking to its theme, STUDIO4ºC plans to work to reduce CO2 emissions during production of the film.
A Kickstarter campaign is now live with the goal of ¥3,000,000 (about $22,729). The crowdfunding will go toward making a pilot clip and the creation and operation of a STUDIO4ºC fan community to “share the film’s progress with fans.”
