Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Nabs Favorite Movie at Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

This weekend saw the arrival of the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and one of the big winners was the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film. The Blue Blur’s second theatrical outing took home the award for Favorite Movie during Saturday’s event, which was hosted by Nate Burleson and Charli D’Amelio.

Transformers hero Optimus Prime also took home the Lifetime Achievement Award, and other awards went to Netflix’s Wednesday as Favorite Family TV Show, Jenna Ortega as Favorite Female TV Star (Family), Spongebob Squarepants as Favorite Animated Show and more.

Paramount Pictures gave this description for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which opened in April 2022 and quickly nabbed the best opening weekend for a film based on a video game:

“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
