Sonic Prime Animated Series Races Toward December 15 Netflix Debut

Sonic’s always gotta go fast… and now, he’s speeding towards his next TV series before the end of the year!

IGN broke the news today that Sonic Prime, the sixth Sonic the Hedgehog animated series, will be premiered on streaming giant Netflix on December 15. The series—the first in the franchise to premiere on a streaming service—was announced back in February 2021. The new show is animated at WildBrain Studios in Vancouver, the same group behind 2021’s Johnny Test revival.

The announcement also included eight character posters depicting Sonic, Knuckles, and many other familiar faces in all their animated glory:

Sonic Prime is the second 3DCG animated series in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, following the 2014 American/French co-production Sonic Boom.
