Shonen Hollywood Anime Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for 4K Screening Event on Christmas Eve

The Shonen Hollywood anime franchise has launched a new crowdfunding campaign to collect fund for the screening event of the special 4K edition of its final 26th episode “HOLLY STAGE FOR YOU.” The event is scheduled to be held at the 109 Cinemas Kiba theater in Tokyo on December 24, 2022.

The first season of the TV anime, Shonen Hollywood -Holly Stage for 49-, was aired for 13 episodes from July to September 2014, then the second season, Shonen Hollywood -Holly Stage for 50-, followed with another 13 episodes from January to April 2015.

The anime’s final 26th episode “HOLLY STAGE FOR YOU” consisted solely of the boy idol unit Shonen Hollywood’s live concert on Christmas Eve, which was entirely hand-drawn, but the actual set list included some songs that were not visualized. In 2018, the first crowdfunding to produce the over 45-minute complete edition of the final episode was launched and successfully collected 59,582,000 yen (403,466 USD) from 3,140 supporters, which was four times more than its initial goal of 15,000,000 yen.

Last year, another campaign was launched to upgrade the complete edition to 4K, raising 2,296,000 yen (15,547 USD), more than double the goal. The 4K edition of the final episode was only streamed online on December 24, 2021, and was not released theatrically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s campaign is being held to realize the much-awaited theatrical screening. As of this written it has collected 330,000 yen (2,234 USD), 33 percent of its target amount of one million yen (6,770 USD).
