Sentai Filmworks Changes Home Video Distributor

sentai filmworks

Some changes are coming to Sentai Filmworks. The company just revealed that in the near future Distribution Solutions (DS) — which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliance Entertainment Corporation — will be in charge of distributing Blu-ray Disc and home entertainment products that are made by Sentai Filmworks and Section 23. This change will happen April 3.

More change will come in June. Then DS will commence soliciting Sentai’s new releases, and therefore things will move to DS’ pricing schedule.

This also means changes at Right Stuf. For years people have been able to buy Sentai products at Right Stuf, but your final chance to purchase goods from Sentai at that website will be March 24. Right Stuf will officially stop mailing out Sentai’s products after March 31. There have already been other changes to Right Stuf since the company was bought by Crunchyroll.

Early last year Sentai Holdings, LLC was acquired by AMC Networks. Brands that are part of Sentai Filmworks are made up of SentaiFilmworks.com, HIDIVE, Sentai Studios and Anime Network.

This news comes days after it was revealed that Sentai Filmworks inked a deal with Mainichi Broadcasting System. AMC Networks explained:

“AMC Networks today announced a major anime partnership and distribution agreement between its subsidiary Sentai Filmworks (Sentai) and Japan’s Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) that provides exclusive rights for AMC Networks’ anime-focused HIDIVE streaming service to distribute part of MBS’s future programming line-up in all global markets outside of Asia. The output deal represents Sentai’s largest ever agreement for anime content and encompasses MBS’ slate based on a collection of wildly popular manga and light novel titles. All of the shows will be simulcast exclusively on HIDIVE, which is available via paid subscription or through a premium subscription on Amazon Prime and now The Roku Channel as well.”
