See Giant Ohmu Brought to Life in Nausicaä Photo Book

Recent Studio Ghibli exhibitions have sported stunning recreations of creatures and locations from the films’ various fantastical settings. Among them are the otherworldly beings of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind—including an 8-meter-long Ohmu. Just how are these creations brought to life? A new book shows us.

Titled Creating the Toxic Jungle: Diorama modeling captured in photos, the new book takes readers through the entire process of replicating these iconic wonders. From rough sketches to stunning photos of the results, sculptor Takayuki Takeya shows readers how he brought Hayao Miyazaki‘s vision to life.
