Sakaomi Yuzaki’s She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat Manga Gets Live-action Drama

 

 

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK announced today that a live-action TV drama adaptation of Sakaomi Yuzaki’s cooking-themed romance manga Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna / She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat is set to premiere on NHK General TV on November 29, 2022.

 

The 10-episode drama will be aired as the next entry of the station’s 15-minute “Yoru Dora” (Night Drama) programming block. Manami Higa is cast as the protagonist Nomoto, while Emi Nishino plays her love interest, Kasuga.

 

The manga has been serialized KADOKAWA’s web manga site Comic Walker and several digital platforms since January 2021, and its latest third tankobon volume is set to be released in Japan on November 15, 2022. Under the title She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, its English edition is licensed by Yen Press. The publisher describes its first two volumes’ synopsis as below:  

 

 

Volume 1 (October 18, 2022 release):

 

Cooking is how Nomoto de-stresses, but one day, she finds herself making way more than she can eat by herself. And so, she invites her neighbor Kasuga, who also lives alone. What will come out of this impromptu dinner invitation…?

 

Volume 2 (March 21, 2023 release):

 

Kasuga and Nomoto promised to spend their Christmas and New Year’s together. Now, they find themselves learning more about each other’s families through the food sent by Nomoto’s mother. Cute character bento, salmon and rice, stollen, fruit sandwiches, roast beef…Nomoto and Kasuga warm up to each other over a cheerful holiday season.

 

 

Message from the manga author:

 

“Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna” will be made into a live-action drama in NHK’s “YoruDora” drama slot! There are expressions that can be done only in manga and drama, respectively. I am so happy that we will be able to see a new side of Nomoto-san and Kasuga-san.As a viewer, I am looking forward to meeting the two!
