Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first teaser trailer for the latest 3D animated Resident Evil film today, the fourth in the series after Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008), Resident Evil: Damnation (2012) and Resident Evil: Vendetta (2017). The new film, called Resident Evil: Death Island, will feature familiar faces in the franchise and set them in San Francisco.

Eiichiro Hasumi (Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness) is directing the film, with Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass: The Movie) writing the screenplay. Sony Pictures Entertainment describes the movie:

D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.
