Rare Yu-Gi-Oh! Make-a-Wish Card For Sale
Right now there’s an eBay bid going on for what’s known as the rarest Yu-Gi-Oh! card. That’s because only one of these was made.
In 2005, the card was created thanks to Make-a-Wish and Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi. This happened several years after young Tyler Gressle was diagnosed with an undifferentiated sarcoma of the liver. Just two hundred other people in America had the same diagnosis. Gressle was a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dragon Ball and wanted to create a Yu-Gi-Oh! card as he fought his cancer.
The card is called “Tyler the Great Warrior” and Takahashi used Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z as the inspiration for the look. And Takahashi signed it.
Now Gressle has decided to sell the special card, and he said he’ll give part of the earnings back to Make-A-Wish to show his appreciation.
As of this writing, the top bid is for $156,800.00. It reached more than $100,000 within an hour of going on eBay. There are still eight days left to bid, and the auction ends on April 29 at 9:00 PM EST.
Takahashi, one of the most successful manga creators ever, passed away last year while trying to save people caught in a riptide and has been called a hero for it.
VIZ Media publishes the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga in English and gave this description of the first volume:
