RADWIMPS, Kazuma Jinnouchi and Toaka Behind Music of Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume

Makoto Shinkai’s upcoming movie Suzume no Tojimari (translated as Suzume’s Door-Locking and known in English simply as Suzume) will be hitting Japanese theaters on November 11. Ahead of this, news about the music has been revealed. RADWIMPS, who has already worked with Shinkai on your name. and Weathering With You, is back to score Suzume. But RADWIMPS won’t be doing the score alone, as Hollywood composer Kazuma Jinnouchi will be working on it as well. Jinnouchi has previously worked on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 and RWBY: Ice Queendom.

In addition to that, Toaka, who is a TikTok performer, is performing the movie’s theme song “Suzume.” Part of the theme song was already streamed in a trailer.

The movie has been given this description:

“On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—

17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…

Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

The stars
The sunset
The morning sky

Within that realm, it was as though all time had melted together in the sky—

Drawn in by this mysterious door, Suzume’s journey is about to begin.”

The movie is set to become available in North America next year, with Crunchyroll in charge of the distribution. Shinkai came up with the original idea for Suzume and is also the writer and director of the film. On top of that, Shinkai was behind a novelization of the story, and that was released in Japan last month.
