Pokémon Reveals if Ash Ketchum Becomes the World Champion After 25 Years

After 25 years, the little kid from Pallet Town has finally achieved his dream of becoming the world’s stronger Pokémon trainer. The latest episode of the Japanese broadcast of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys had Ash finishing his battle against Leon to top the Pokémon World Coronation Series by winning the Masters Eight Tournament.

The Pokémon Company group revealed the win in a press release shortly after the broadcast of the episode with Taito Okiura, vice president of marketing for The Pokémon Company International, saying “Ash Ketchum’s determination and perseverance to achieve his goal of becoming the world’s top Pokémon Trainer over the course of 25 seasons represents the very best of what it means to be a Trainer.”

 

For everyone that grew up on the Pokémon anime series, the lyric “I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was” is etched into our minds, but has never come true for the Pokémon trainer. Finally, Ash has been able to fulfill that promise, completing a 25-year-long arc for the character.

The latest Pokémon anime, which is known as Pokémon Journeys in the west, airs in Japan every Friday on TV Tokyo. Netflix is releasing the series in North America, with the latest batch released on October 21 under the title titled Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series. The episodes featuring the battle between Ash and Leon are to be released soon.
