One Piece Film Red’s Uta Makes History as 1st Anime Character to Appear on NHK’s New Year’s Singing Program

One of the biggest institutions of Japanese television, NHK’s yearly New Year’s singing competition Kohaku Uta Gassen, revealed the members of the Red and White teams today announcing that One Piece Film Red’s Uta will be making history as the first anime character on the program as a competing member for the Red Team.

 

Alongside appearing on the special, which will air from 7:20 PM to 11:45 PM on December 31, Uta is also collaborating with the event in the lead with the “ONE PIECE UTA LIVE RED x WHITE” PR project, though more details will be announced at a later time.

 

 

 

 

Alongside Uta (and Ado as her singing voice) in her first appearance on the Red Team are: IVE (first appearance), Aimyon (4th appearance), Sayuri Ishikawa (45th appearance), Aimer (first appearance and performing songs from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc), Shizuka Kudo (9th appearance), Fuyumi Sakamoto (34th appearance), Ryoko Shinohara (2nd appearance), Superfly (6th appearance), SEKAI NO OWARI (6th appearance), Yoshimi Tendo (27th appearance), TWICE (4th appearance), NiziU (3rd appearance), Nogizaka46 (8th appearance), Perfume (15th appearance), Hinatazaka46 (4th appearance), MISIA (7th appearance), Kaori Mizumori (20th appearance), milet (3rd appearance), Ryokuoushoku Shakai (first appearance) and LE SSERAFIM (first appearance).

NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen has been running since 1951 on NHK Radio and moved to television in 1953 with a live simulcast on radio and around the world on NHK World. This will be the 73rd Kohaku Uta Gassen and be hosted by Kanna Hashimoto, Yo Oizumi, Sho Sakurai and Maho Kuwako.
