One Piece Film Red, SPY x FAMILY Win Top Honors at Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2023

The winners of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2023 were revealed today ahead of the festival from March 10, announcing that the top honors were given to last year’s biggest film in Japan and the found family that snuck away with hearts from around the world while the individual awards were given out to a range of staff members from last year’s biggest hits.

 

The nominations came from a pool of anime that either aired or was released in theaters or screened from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022. Here is the full list of winners (note that TAAF2023 didn’t reveal what anime the staff won for, their biggest work from the year is used as a reference):

  1. TV – SPY x FAMILY
  2. Film – One Piece Film Red

 

Individual Awards

 

  1. Screenplay – Reiko Yoshida (Blue Period)
  2. Director – Goro Taniguchi (One Piece Film Red)
  3. Animator – Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100 III)
  4. Art/Color Design – Koji Eto (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District arc)
  5. Music – Ado (One Piece Film Red, credited at Uta)

Mechamato is a Malaysian animated series produced by Animonsta Studios that airs on Cartoon Network Japan with a Japanese dub. The series won the Twitter poll with 183,364 votes and took down IDOLiSH7 who won the fan award over the last two years.
