As One Piece Film Red’s journey through the Japanese box office ranks will soon come to a close, the pirate musical anime film still has some wind left in its sails, announcing today that the Toei Animation-produced flick has sailed past 19 billion yen at the Japanese box office, the 9th film to ever do so.

The official Twitter account for One Piece Film Red celebrated the occasion with a special wanted poster of Zoro and Sanji.

As of Monday, January 9, since opening in Japanese theaters 157 days ago One Piece Film Red has made 19,056,398,170 yen (US$136.08 million) on the back of 13,792,712 tickets sold. The film continues to be the ninth-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and the sixth-highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan, just behind Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle in both charts at 19.60 billion yen.

At the current rate, it seems like One Piece Film Red won’t be overtaking Howl’s Moving castle and just missing the 20 billion mark, but time will tell if Toei will pull out all the stops to get Luffy’s biggest adventure over the grand line.

One Piece Film Red opened in Japanese theaters on August 6. Crunchyroll released the film in English-speaking countries last November, starting with Australia and New Zealand on November 3 then followed by the United States and Canada on November 4. Crunchyroll describes the seafaring musical adventure as such:

Uta—the most beloved singer in the world whose voice has been described as “otherworldly”—is renowned for concealing her own identity when performing. Now, for the first time ever, she will reveal herself to the world at a live concert.

With the Navy watching closely, the venue fills with Uta’s fans—including excited pirates and the Straw Hats led by Luffy, who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance—all eagerly awaiting the voice that the whole world has been waiting for to resound. The story begins with the shocking revelation that she is the enigmatic Shanks’ daughter.

The One Piece TV anime is also still going strong, with over 1,000 episodes of the series streaming right here on Crunchyroll and new episodes coming out each week as they air in Japan.
