While Nintendo may have already opened a couple of directly managed stores in the major hubs of Tokyo and Osaka over the years, the red titan of gaming has been looking past its hometown of Kyoto, until now. Nintendo revealed today that Nintendo Kyoto will be opening its store doors this October 17 in a brand new building in the middle of downtown Kyoto.

Nintendo Kyoto will be housed on the 7th floor of the new Kyoto Takashimaya SC building, right next to the old one. It will be joined by a two-story Tsutaya Bookstore on floors five and six, as well as the first-ever Mandarake second-hand anime goods store on the fourth floor making for a hype pop-culture space in the middle of Kyoto.

Much like the other Nintendo Stores across Japan, Nintendo Store Kyoto will have games, goods and more exclusively for the store. Nintendo opened its first store in Tokyo in November 2019, followed by Nintendo Osaka in November 2022.
