Nintendo is Off to the Races with The Super Mario Bros. Movie Direct for Final Trailer

Nintendo is once again gathering its army of loyal followers for the second Direct of the year, following this month’s exciting games showcase headlined by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 and Metroid Prime Remastered with the announcement of a stream dedicated to the upcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie animated film from Illumination.

 

The final trailer (and no game information) will be shown on March 9 at 2pm PT.

The Lego Movie 2 scribe Matthew Fogel is writing, with Teen Titan’s Go! To the Movies‘ Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic co-directing the animated movie, and Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri at Illumination producing for a Universal Pictures distribution.

 

The film’s cast list includes Chris Pratt as the titular plumber and one-half of the Mario Bros. with Jack Black as Bowser, and Charlie Day as Luigi. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The film is slated to be released on April 7, 2023 in the US and April 28, 2023 in Japan.
