Nintendo and DeNa Joint Venture Forms Nintendo Systems Subsidiary

Nintendo‘s existing joint venture with Japanese mobile development juggernaut DeNa takes a further step into becoming a stake for its future, as both companies have formed a jointly-owned subsidiary for the development of new products and experiences outside of video games in Nintendo Systems.

While DeNa is mainly known in the West for its massive catalog of mobile games, web apps and game-related services, the company has significant investments in more conventional businesses such as information management for companies, stakes in healthcare and IT, along with non game-related mobile development in Japan.

The goal for this subsidiary is pretty simple outside of the initial introduction on the newly opened website, in that Nintendo and DeNa are now going to work together to develop new products, experiences and applications around Nintendo’s properties.

Hiring for the new company will formally open in June of this year with two locations, one established in Tokyo and another in Kyoto close to Nintendo’s corporate headquarters. A mailing list has also been launched for those that wish to register their interest in working at Nintendo Systems ahead of formal hiring later this year.
