Love Live! Takes to the Stage in First Ever School Idol Musical
After more than a decade as a mainstay of Japanese pop culture, the Love Live! project is headed to the stage in Love Live! School Idol Musical. The stage show will be a brand new story set in the Love Live! universe about two students from two fictional schools in the Kansai region, Takizakura Girls Academy in Osaka prefecture and Tsubakisakuhana Girls High School in the neighboring Hyogo prefecture.

With a story thought up by Love Live! creator Sakurako Kimino, Love Live! School Idol Musical is being turned into a stage event by screenplay writer and director Kouki Kishimoto and composer Ryota Kojima at ARKS International. Both Kishimoto and Kojima previously worked together on the Kiki’s Delivery Service musical that was performed in Japan. Bandai Namco Filmworks and Bandai Namco Music Live are both working on the production alongside ARKS International.
Curtains open for Love Live! School Idol Musical on December 10 at the New National Theatre in Tokyo and is set to run until December 15 before moving to Osaka on January 25 to 29 at the Umeda Arts Theater. The latest Love Live! TV anime, the second season of Love Live! Superstar!!, is currently airing in Japan and streams on Crunchyroll soon after. The streamer describes the series as such:
