Like a Dragon Majima VA Gives Update on ‘Latest Game’ in Pop Team Epic Anime Short

Pop Team Epic

In the blend between two perfect franchises, it seems that the latest details on the Like a Dragon video games come from none other than the latest Pop Team Epic anime short. The latest episode of the series had Takaya Kuroda, who voices Kiryu in Like a Dragon, and Hidenari Ugaki, who voices his rival and friend Majima, voicing Popuko and Pipimi in the second half and along with the episode came a small interview segment between the two on the official YouTube channel for the series.

The interview is just the two of them riffing and chatting until Kuroda says that he’s currently recording his voice work for the “latest game” in the series that the two work on together. While not naming the series directly, the pair have only worked on Yakuza together, unless Kuroda is joining the next Tekken game.

Ugaki responds in surprise as he notes that he hasn’t heard anything about recording for the series yet and hasn’t even been invited to return.

It’s not known whether Kuroda is talking about the Kiryu side-story game, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name or Like a Dragon 8, but as Kiryu’s oldest friend Majima should turn up somewhere, even if it’s just as a voice from under a traffic cone or from behind a bar.

Development on both Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name or Like a Dragon 8 is currently ongoing and as one of the protagonists, it would be no (Majima) surprise that Kiryu’s lines would take longer to record. So there’s still time for Majima to return!

If you’re hankering for more Majima, Hidenari Ugaki does return in the spin-off Like a Dragon Ishin! as a form of that character, which releases for Xbox Series and One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Steam and Windows on February 21 around the world.
