Japan Box Office Top 10: Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village- Repeats at No.1

 

 

In its second weekend, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- earned 571 million yen (4.44 million USD) on 402,000 admissions, which was down half from its opening weekend’s performance, but was enough to keep its No.1 position for two weeks in a row.

 

The 110-minute feature film edition contains the 10th and 11th episodes of the TV anime second season Entertainment District Arc and the first episode of the forthcoming third season Swordsmith Village Arc in 4K with remastered audio. Its cumulative total gross has already surpassed two billion yen (15.55 million USD) on 1,47 million admissions.

In its 11th weekend, THE FIRST SLAM DUNK climbed up to second from the previous weekend’s third. As reported, the film already surpassed the ten billion yen mark on February 7, and has earned 10.3 billion yen (80 million USD) on 7.11 million admissions in 72 days since its release.

Makoto Shinkai’s latest feature Suzume also moved up one spot from last weekend to fourth place. In the 14 weeks since its release, it has earned 13.59 billion yen (115.6 million USD) and has surpassed the Japanese box office gross of Top Gun Maverick, 13.57 billion yen.

The anime film adaptation of Nao Iwamoto’s romance fantasy manga Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni / Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom disappeared from the top 10 in its third weekend.
