Hideaki Anno Makes A Guest Appearance in Ichikei’s Crow – The Criminal Court Judges Live-action Film
The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Rito Asami’s legal suspense manga Ichikei no Karasu / Ichikei’s Crow – The Criminal Court Judges has posted ten behind-the-scenes photos, including the ones that introduce Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno who made a guest appearance. Anno’s role is unknown at this time.
The manga was first adapted into a 11-episode live-action TV drama from April to June 2021. Following the success of the drama, a feature film edition with the same cast members will be released in Japan on January 13, 2023. Yutaka Takenouchi, who has played the protagonist Micho Iruma and shakes Anno’s hand in one of the photos, participated in two recent live-action films Anno was involved in – Shin Godzilla (2016) and Shin Ultraman (2022). So this seems to be a friendship appearance as an appreciation to him.

Fuji TV, which aired the TV drama, describes its story as below:
The protagonist of this story is Michio Iruma, an unorthodox criminal court judge who takes it upon himself to verify crime scenes, to uncover the truth of incidences, in order to ensure that there are absolutely no false accusations. With a beard and casual clothes, there’s this sense of a laid back atmosphere about him, often speaking out in a slow manner. He is far from the image of an uptight judge, but a unique one feared by both lawyers and prosecutors for his free observation and an inquisitive mind, that is free from any ties, prejudices, or preconceptions. On the other hand, for criminal court judges usually in charge of around 250 cases at any given time, one of their major missions is to handle cases quickly and efficiently. So, the members around him are always puzzled by Michio, who digs deeper into cases at his own pace, almost as if none of this affects him. In fact, Michio has a unique background as a former lawyer…
