Hajime Isayama Draws Hopeful New Attack on Titan Manga Illustration

Attack on Titan

It’s been a hot minute since Attack on Titan appeared in the pages of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine but today the series returned to the monthly with a brand new Illustration by series creator Hajime Isayama donning the cover of this month’s issue which was released today in Japan. The Illustration features most of the main characters being as happy as they can be as if it were like nothing ever happened…

WARNING, spoilers for the end of the manga may be in this image.

Isayama commented on the struggles he faced drawing the image, saying (translated):

Dear readers of Betsumaga, it’s been a while.

I’m very honored to be on the cover of this issue, even though it’s been almost two years since the series ended.

I was worried that I was not able to draw an image of something that had been completed with a sense of being in those last moments of the series.

So in the end, I decided on this composition as I felt that this was the only way I could draw this picture.

This year will see the conclusion of the TV anime and I believe it will finally be the end.

I hope you will enjoy it!

The latest of the Attack on Titan anime adaptation, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 aired weekly right here on Crunchyroll and is streaming alongside the rest of the decade-long anime franchise. The first half of the third part of the Final Season will air as a one-hour special on March 4.

Known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin, many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill – or be devoured!
