Godzilla Teases New Production for November 2023 Release by Stand by Me Doraemon Director

The official Japanese and English Twitter accounts for Godzilla announced on his birthday today that the next work in Toho’s franchise will be released on November 3, 2023, under the direction of Takashi Yamazaki, who is best known for his work on Stand by Me Doraemon, Parasyte live-action, Lupin III: The First and the Space Battleship Yamato live-action film. A teaser poster for the work was unveiled.
Takashi Yamazaki is best known for his visual effects work and incorporation of those effects into live-action films, as well as for helming some of the most celebrated CG films from Japan that have reinterpreted classic franchises such as Doraemon and Lupin the Third. Yamazaki will also be writing the script and working as the VFX director on the new Godzilla work.
Toho Studios and Robot productions will be working on the production of the film. Yamazaki has previously worked with Robot on the visual effects for Parasyte and the CG for Dragon Quest: Your Story.

This isn’t Yamazaki’s first run-in with the Godzilla franchise, having helmed visuals for the Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle at Seibu-en in Saitama.
