The beginning of each new anime season brings in a fleet of exciting new shows, but also a chance to look back with countless anniversaries for anime that have been around for single digits or multiple decades. One such memorable title is Girls und Panzer, which is celebrating a full ten years since its explosive premiere with a seven-minute video covering its eventful history.

As recounted by the video, Girls und Panzer began as an original anime series helmed by Tsutomu Mizushima (SHIROBAKO) at studio Actas, which premiered on October 9, 2012 and ran for 12 episodes. The franchise then expanded to multiple anime films and spin-offs, as well as manga, novels and live events.

Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired, describing it as such:

A powerful tank battle has been created by an enviable staff, cute girl characters and 3DCGI!

The world has evolved into something different from Japan as we know it. Traditional Japanese girls are expected to have “tank skills” as well as flower arrangement and tea ceremony skills, and every school has a “tank club”.
