Fist of the North Star – the violent martial arts action manga written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara that chronicles the struggles of post-apocalyptic warrior Kenshiro – is celebrating its 40th anniversary in September of 2023, and now a special website has been published in anticipation of various upcoming projects for the iconic series.

In addition to the official logo for the anniversary project (below), various initiatives will be announced throughout 2023 leading up to the details of a “special project” to be revealed on September 13, 2023, the anniversary of the publication of the first chapter of the Fist of the North Star manga, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump on September 13, 1983.

The theme for the 40th anniversary project is “Ai wo Torimodose!” (“Take Back the Love!”), a reference to the first opening theme for the Fist of the North Star TV anime, which is performed by Crystal King.

Crunchyroll currently streams the Fist of the North Star TV anime, and describes the story as follows:

“You don’t even know you’re already dead!!” The war has turned the world into a nuclear wasteland. However, humanity had survived, only to relapse into society where violence dominates.
