Fire Emblem Engage Tops Charts in Japan, Finally Dethrones Pokémon

Fire Emblem Engage

The estimated Japanese software and hardware sales are in for the week of January 16-22, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet finally got knocked out of the top spot. The usurper is none other than the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Engage, which came out swinging to the tune of an estimated 144,558 units sold.

Pokémon fell down to second place with 43,983 units—rising to a total of nearly 5 million units in Japan alone—followed by Splatoon 3 with an additional 16,091 units. Nintendo Switch games made up most of the top 10, with the sole non-Switch entry going to Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5, which took ninth place with an additional 5,468 units.
