FEATURE: 6 Yummy Girl Scout Cookies and the Anime to Pair Them With

Anya and Becky SPY x FAMILY

Snacks and anime go hand in hand. As in, you should have a delicious snack in your hand while watching your favorite anime! Girl Scout Cookies are at the top of my list of beloved baked goods, so in honor of the timeless treats, I’ve paired some of the iconic cookies with anime series you can start watching as soon as your order arrives.

A diehard fan of Thin Mints? Or do you have to have Do-si-dos? I have just the superheroes and super spies for you. Catching up on Kaguya-sama: Love Is War or starting Chainsaw Man? I got you, too. In fact, there are so many tasty cookies to tell you about that you might not want to read this list on an empty stomach.

I’ve narrowed down the list of the thirteen available Girl Scout Cookies in 2023 to six of my favorites. On to the sweet stuff!

BOCCHI THE ROCK! – Caramel deLites/Samoas

Bocchi

High school student Hitori Gotoh, nicknamed Bocchi, only comes out of her shell when she’s playing guitar in her band. And even then she has to fight her intense social anxiety under the glare of the spotlight. In BOCCHI THE ROCK!, whenever Bocchi’s anxiety overwhelms her, she becomes a literal mess of emotions depicted with rough circles and dark, bold lines going every which way. Which, I have to say, is pretty similar to the look of Caramel deLites.

Cookie, caramel, coconut and chocolate complement each other in every amazing bite. Kessoku Band members Kita, Ryo, Nijikata and Bocchi do the same when they come together to play energetic original songs. Like the different parts of the cookie, each band member brings her own unique flavor that works together in complete harmony.

Chainsaw Man – Toast-Yay!

“Sweet” and “Chainsaw Man” are probably not words you would put together in the same sentence. Or anywhere else. But with Denji’s love of the simple joys in life, a delicious, sugary treat is always appreciated by the Devil Hunter. Denji isn’t picky, but I think of all the cookies in the world, he would really enjoy one that reminds him of his beloved toast.

Toast-Yay! is the Girl Scout Cookies’ take on French toast. And, just when you think it couldn’t get any better, this recent addition to the cookie line-up is also dipped in icing. Whether you’re a big fan of breakfast or you want to raise a toast to Denji, this is the cookie for you.

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War – Lemon-Ups

Kaguya-sama

Lemon cookies like Lemon-Ups are sweet with a hint of sour citrus, just like the ups and downs of high school romance – especially when it comes to my favorite student council officers Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War! The two fight their feelings, and each other, constantly. Yet deep down they simply want to be together as their true selves.

Lemon-Ups are also emblazoned with inspiring messages like “I am a go-getter!” and “I am a leader!” that describe these two overachievers to the T. Just be careful snacking while watching this comedy-drama: you might put away an entire sleeve of cookies before you realize it. It’s that captivating.

My Hero Academia – Thin Mints

Deku and Eri in My Hero Academia

Just hear me out: Deku is a Thin Mint. Both are delightful. Both stand out among their peers. In short, the greatest cookie goes perfectly with the greatest hero. The Thin Mints box and Deku’s hero outfit even match, sharing a lovely dark green and black color scheme.

What else in My Hero Academia is similar to a Thin Mint? Like Shoto Todoroki, the classic cookie is phenomenal hot or cold. Putting a box of Thin Mints in the freezer is a food hack that you absolutely must try the next time you order a box. Give the cold treats to your family and friends on a warm day and you’ll be their number one hero.

SPY x FAMILY – Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich

If you’ve ever watched an episode of SPY x FAMILY, you know exactly why Do-si-dos were the easiest match to make on this list. Two words: peanut butter. There are few things that Anya Forger loves as much as peanuts, and her new family is one of them. Peanuts are so magical that they can be used as a peace offering by a dog who destroys your favorite plush.

SPY x FAMILY is the story of Loid, Yor and Anya Forger. Each one is hiding a special secret and each one has a reason for needing to be a part of a family all of the sudden. They might not be a traditional family, but all three of them appreciate the time they spend together, whether they’re going for an outing or nibbling on some baked goodies together. Join them with your own box of peanut butter cookies that not even Yor Forger could mess up.

TRIGUN STAMPEDE – Toffee-tastic

Vash in TRIGUN STAMPEDE

The unusual texture of the Toffee-tastic Girl Scout Cookies is reminiscent of a cratered moon or a sand-covered planet – a lot like Noman’s Land in TRIGUN STAMPEDE! I’ve noticed that dessert goes great with the sci-fi-slash-action-slash-drama anime. Maybe it’s because Vash the Stampede wears those iconic round glasses that kind of look like cookies the more I stare at them.

And, just like the gunslinging pacifist, Toffee-tastic cookies have a soft exterior that hides some toughness inside. Does that take the metaphor too far? Probably. All you really need to know is that cookies will help keep you calm when the situations in TRIGUN STAMPEDE start to get pretty scary.

Vash deserves all the cookies.
