Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine

In just a little over two weeks, the latest film in the Detective Conan/Case Closed franchise, Black Iron Submarine, has entered the all-time Japanese box office in 86th place, marking the fifth entry in the 26-movie franchise to have its place on the list.

As of April 30, Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine has made 7.73 billion yen (US$56.22 million) on the back of 5.37 million tickets sold. Black Iron Submarine entered the list above its 2021 counterpart, Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, which opened during the COVID-19 pandemic and is on track to be the first Detective Conan film to pass 10 billion yen.

The closest a Detective Conan film has gotten to 10 billion yen was the 2022 outing for the boy detective, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, which made 9.78 billion yen (US$74.45 million) over its entire run.
