Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine Anime Film Climbs Past 12 Billion Yen in Japan

 

Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine continues to pass milestones with the 26th film in the Detective Conan/Case Closed franchise passing 12 billion yen at the Japanese box office over the last week and quickly ascending through the Japanese all-time box office charts.

 

As of May 28, Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine brought in 12.21 billion yen (US$101.55 million) on the back of 8.6 million tickets sold for the film. The movie passed Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises and 2019’s Aladdin to become the 28th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and is currently the 12th highest-grossing anime film in the country.

Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa at TMS Entertainment. The film opened in Japan on April 14 and was the first film in the franchise to pass 10 billion yen.
