Demon Slayer Wants You to Drink Your Milk

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Swordsmith Village Arc is here, and that means lots more Demon Slayer tie-ins as well. The latest is a campaign to encourage people to drink milk.

Starting on April 17, part of the Shinjuku Station in Tokyo got decked out with Demon Slayer characters drinking milk. This includes a poster that’s almost ninety yards long. In addition to that, there are monitors also showing the characters. Everyone has a chibi appearance.

This is because Meiji, the company behind the “Meiji Oishii Gyunyu” milk brand, has teamed up with Tanjiro and the others in their quest to get people drinking milk. People who buy so many milk products from Meiji and send in proof are in the running for prizes. One thousand people will receive cups showing the chibi Demon Slayer characters with their drinks. It’s also possible to win an acrylic standee. The standees each have one character on them, and nine thousand of those will be raffled off.

Seeing how popular the Demon Slayer franchise is, many companies are keen on teaming up with them. Demon Slayer has also helped sell McDonald’s as well as coffee and has had its own restaurant, so it’s really not a stretch for it to also help with milk sales.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming Demon Slayer, and gave this description for its plot:

“It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself.

Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a ‘demon slayer’ so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.”
