This weekend saw the premiere of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- in U.S. theaters, and Tanjiro and the gang rocked the box office. Following an opening on Friday, March 3 that pulled in US$4,220,412, the film closed out the opening weekend with an estimated $10.1 million from a wide release across 1,780 theaters.

 

Here’s the three-day breakdown:

  • Friday, March 3: $4,220,412
  • Saturday, March 4: $3,447,394
  • Sunday, March 5: $2,450,000

 

According to Box Office Mojo, this put it at #4 behind Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Cocaine Bear. Look, even Inosuke wouldn’t dare go toe-to-toe with Cocaine Bear.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village-, distributed by Aniplex of America and Crunchyroll, is a feature-length cut of Episodes 10 and 11 of the Entertainment District Arc and the extended Episode 1 of the upcoming Swordsmith Village Arc in 4K with remastered audio. A special sold-out Los Angeles premiere was held on February 18 at the Orpheum Theatre, featuring appearances by Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), Aniplex producer Yuma Takahashi and a performance by Aimer.

 

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- World Tour began with a two-day event in Tokyo, and is followed by events in Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Seoul, Taipei, and more. More information on the World Tour can be found at demonslayer-anime.com/worldtour2023.
