Summer is about to get a little spookier, because Dark Gathering, an upcoming TV anime based on the supernatural action manga by Kenichi Kondo, is heading to HIDIVE for a simulcast streaming beginning in July of 2023. Dark Gathering begins broadcasting in Japan on TOKYO MX, BS Asahi, and Kansai TV on July 09, 2023, although the exact details of HIDIVE’s streaming schedule have not yet been revealed.

The original Dark Gathering manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square shonen manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from Viz Media. HIDIVE describes the story of the series as follows:

After a devastating encounter with a restless spirit, ghost-fearing psychic Keitaro Gentoga became a shut-in to avoid additional spectral catastrophes. But no man is a haunted island, and Keitaro eventually reintegrates with society by getting a part-time job as a tutor to the child prodigy Yayoi Houzuki. Yayoi isn’t just an academic genius, though. She’s a talented psychic medium hell-bent on finding the malevolent spirit behind her mother’s disappearance, and she’s gravely determined to drag Keitaro into her terrifying world of grotesque supernatural phenomenon.
