Burn the Witch Delivers Something Different from Creator of Bleach

With all the excitement buzzing around about the new Bleach anime, now is the perfect time to take a look at another creation from Tite Kubo set within the same universe. Just in time for spooky season, Burn the Witch: Limited Series is officially available to order on Blu-ray in both standard and limited edition form, and Noel and Ninny are two witches you’ll absolutely want to hitch a broom ride with.

The best way to acquaint yourself with the world of Reverse London is to get a quick introduction to the aforementioned leads, Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. This pair works as protection agents for Wing Bind (WB), which is an organization for dragon conservation and management, and they each go about their mission to protect and manage the dragons of London in their own unique ways.

On the surface, Noel comes off as stoic with a heavy dose of deadpan delivery, but she also has a silly side buried underneath that uniform-clad air of authority. She’s far more interested in the money she makes getting the job done than rising up in the ranks within Wing Bind, and she remains content with pasturing and harvesting from Dragons rather than pursuing other aspects of the business.

Ninny, on the other hand, isn’t afraid to show her temper right out the gate. She can be abrasive and rude, especially when it comes to vocalizing her disdain for commanding officer Billy Banx Jr. Unlike Noel, Ninny wants to join the Sabres and get in on the effort to defend London from attacking dragons, and she cares more about the accolades and potential for promotion than she does the money earned during the process. That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be keen on pulling some overtime hours for the right price, though.

One of the most entertaining aspects of Burn the Witch is seeing how Noel and Ninny bounce off one another and how they occasionally clash with their superiors and pretty much everyone else in the cast. The limited edition Blu-ray release packs the three-episode series on disc along with the movie version, a clean ending and trailers, and fans can pore over the art in the included 12-page full-color booklet.
