The journey of Frieren’s self-reflection in the TV anime adaptation of the Kanehito Yamada-written, Tsukasa Abe-illustrated Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga was announced today to be beginning this fall. Alongside the released period announcement, the first teaser trailer and new visual were released alongside the reveal of Frieren’s voice actor and lead staff members.

Voicing the immortal Frieren is Atsumi Tanezaki, who is best known as the sweet Anya from SPY x FAMILY.

Keiichiro Saito, who debuted as a director on BOCCHI THE ROCK!, will be helming the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End TV anime with Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) writing the series composition, Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) designing the characters and music composed by Evan Call (Violet Evergarden). The animation will be produced at Madhouse.

 

The award-winning Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga has been serialized in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since April 28, 2020, with the tenth volume set to release in Japan on March 16. Viz Media releases the series in English, describing the first volume as such:

 

Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of her comrades and finds herself beginning a new adventure…
