Black Clover Anime Returns July 7 After COVID-19 Delay

The Black Clover anime film was announced way back in March 2021, with 2023 premiere plans following a full year later. Now we finally have more information, including a full title for the film and a premiere date.

Titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and featuring an original story supervised by manga author Yuki Tabata, the film is scheduled to open in Japan on March 31, 2023. It will also have a simultaneous release on Netflix around the world right alongside the Japanese theatrical premiere.

Check out a new trailer and visual, the latter of which was drawn by Tabata.

There’s also a new cast member, with Toshihiko Seki (Senketsu in Kill la Kill) set to voice former Wizard King Konrath.

Crunchyroll currently streams the entire Black Clover TV anime and describes the story:

In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!
